Denis Harrisson biography

Denis Harrisson has been the rector of Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO) since 2015.

Dr. Harrisson sits on the board of Universities Canada and serves on the association’s Education Committee.

As rector, Dr. Harrisson contributes to the growth of UQO by emphasizing program development in disciplines such as health and natural sciences and by consolidating graduate programs in the humanities and social sciences, as well as applied science.

Dr. Harrisson has a PhD in sociology and, since August 2013, has acted as vice-rector of teaching and research at UQO.

During his teaching career, Dr. Harrisson was a professor at the Department of Organization and Human Resources at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) from 2003 to 2013. It was there that he headed the Centre for Research on Social Innovations, a strategic alliance of some 30 researchers dedicated to researching social innovation and social transformation. Previously, he was a professor at UQO’s Department of Industrial Relations from 1991 to 2003.

His research focused mainly on innovation processes within organizations. He has also authored multiple articles and books.
