Canada’s universities mobilize in response to COVID-19

Universities are joining forces with governments, the private sector and civil society to donate and source critical medical supplies, and are working with community partners to provide a wide range of supports for the national public health response to COVID-19.

Universities across the country, both large and small, are conducting urgent and collaborative research to help address this global outbreak. With the support of new funding recently provided by the Government of Canada announced, university research teams are undertaking wide-ranging, interdisciplinary projects to inform clinical and public health response, develop and evaluate diagnostic tools and vaccines, and tackle misinformation. Universities and their research teams are playing an important role in the government’s $1.1B pan-Canadian Medical and Research Strategy to fight COVID-19.
