Vianne Timmons, president, University of Regina

Community engagement that our students undertake really helps their resumes. It helps them show they’re committed to do more than just attend university. Our students are getting jobs. 95% of our students get employment within the first six months.

They’re sought after. They are very successful in their jobs and they’re doing very well. I credit a lot of that to the connections with our community. It makes the community much stronger. Our students work at the food bank. They do service learning, all with all of the NGO’s in town.

Also we have over 800 that do co-op placements. That’s wonderful because Regina has less than 2% unemployment and our co-op students in particular are a real resource for the community.
