Grands projets

CIHR SPOR Chronic Pain Network: Led by Dr. Norm Buckley – a patient-centered network focusing on improved health outcomes for Canadians suffering from chronic pain.

CIHR SPOR IMAGINE Chronic Disease Network: Led by Dr. Paul Moayyedi – IMAGINE will be developing innovative therapies and novel probiotics for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA): Led by Dr. Parminder Raina – is a large, national, long-term study that will follow approximately 50,000 men and women who are between the ages of 45 and 85 when recruited, for at least 20 years.

Good Bugs, Bad Bugs: Led by Dr. Eric Brown – allows researchers to generate a more thorough understanding of the ways microbes can both benefit us and cause disease.

AllerGen (Allergy, Genes and Environment): Led by Dr. Judah Denburg – a Network of Centres of Excellence (NCE) focused on improve the quality of life of those impacted by allergic disease, asthma and anaphylaxis.

Chercheurs

Dr. Salim Yusuf, Professor, Department of Medicine – Cardiology; Heart and Stroke Foundation Chair in Cardiology; Director, Population Health Research Institute. Research focuses on societal, biologic and genetic determinants of population health in developing populations spanning 66 countries in all inhabited continents across the world.

Dr. Sheila Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Surgery, Division of Neurosurgery; Scientist, McMaster Stem Cell and Cancer Research Institute, CRC in Human Cancer Stem Cell Biology. Research focuses on further characterization of genetic abnormalities of brain tumor initiating cells (BTICs), with the intent of developing future therapies that will target BTICs, and provide insight into patient prognosis.

Dr. Gerry Wright, Professor, Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences; Director, Michael G. DeGroote Institute for Infectious Disease Research; CRC in Antimicrobial Biochemistry. Research focuses on combating antibiotic resistance and treating infectious diseases, discovering new antibiotics, and duplicating antibiotics in the lab for research purposes.
