Key facilities

Centre for Advanced Computing (CAC) at Queen’s, including a consortium of universities, is a high performance data centre and part of the Compute Canada family. CAC complies with a variety of frameworks and standards including ISO 27002 and PHIPA in order to help protect the confidential data it hosts, such as personal health information.

Human Media Lab is one of Canada’s premier media laboratories. Its mandate is to develop disruptive technologies and new ways of working with computers that are viable 10 to 20 years from now.

Software Analysis and Intelligence Lab is actively investigating approaches and creating techniques to support practitioners who are producing, maintaining and evolving large scale complex software systems.

Major collaborations

Towards cost-effective load testing of platform-applications: Dr. Ahmed Hassan leads a research program focused on large improvements in the quality and scalability of platform-applications in a cost-effective manner (e.g., platform applications that make use of services provided by ultra-large scale platforms). Support by NSERC CRD.

Robust Crowdsensing for Intelligent Road Services: Led by Dr. Hossam Hassanein, research on intelligent transportation systems will reduce congestion and accidents on roads by enabling road labeling based on accessibility and conditions – improving road safety for all drivers. Support by NSERC Strategic Grant.

Defending Connected Vehicles from Attacks: Led by Dr. Mohammad Zulkernine, research focused on secure cloud computing for connected vehicles. Support by NSERC.
