Principales installations

Centre for Advanced Computing (CAC) at Queen’s, including a consortium of universities, is a high performance data centre and part of the Compute Canada family. CAC complies with a variety of frameworks and standards including ISO 27002 and PHIPA in order to help protect the confidential data it hosts, such as personal health information.  

Human Media Lab is one of Canada’s premier media laboratories. Its mandate is to develop disruptive technologies and new ways of working with computers that are viable 10 to 20 years from now.

Software Analysis and Intelligence Lab is actively investigating approaches and creating techniques to support practitioners who are producing, maintaining and evolving large scale complex software systems.

Grands projets

Towards cost-effective load testing of platform-applications: Dr. Ahmed Hassan leads a research program focused on large improvements in the quality and scalability of platform-applications in a cost-effective manner (e.g., platform applications that make use of services provided by ultra-large scale platforms). Support by NSERC CRD.

Robust Crowdsensing for Intelligent Road Services: Led by Dr. Hossam Hassanein, research on intelligent transportation systems will reduce congestion and accidents on roads by enabling road labeling based on accessibility and conditions – improving road safety for all drivers. Support by NSERC Strategic Grant.

Defending Connected Vehicles from Attacks: Led by Dr. Mohammad Zulkernine, research focused on secure cloud computing for connected vehicles. Support by NSERC.

Chercheurs

Dr. Ahmed Hassan, CRC in Software Analytics and NSERC/RIM Industrial Research Chair, conducts research on both Ultra-Large Scale Software Systems, and Mining Software Repositories.

Dr. Mohammad Zulkernine, CRC in Software Dependability, is focused on research related to developing methods and tools to build and monitor dependable, secure software systems.

Dr. Ying Zou, CRC in Software Evolution, is focused on research related to providing techniques and tools to improve the quality of service oriented architecture applications for the Internet.

Dr. Hossam Hassanein, Professor, School of Computing, is focused in the areas of broadband and wireless networks architectures, protocols, control and performance evaluation.

Dr. James Cordy, School of Computing, is active in the fields of source code analysis and manipulation, software reverse and re-engineering, and pattern analysis and machine intelligence.

  • Electrical and Computing Engineering Innovation Stream selects 50 students per year to learn about the fast paced world of innovation and product development.
  • The Queen’s Undergraduate Internship Program (QUIP) provides students with a 12-16 month work experience.
  • Office of Partnerships and Innovation provides services related to research partnerships and technology transfer activities.
