The Centre for Optimization and Data Science conducts research in the theoretical study of optimization and decision making science, as well as applications of optimization to real world problems.

The GeoX lab explores environmental sensing technology and data mining and modelling solutions to inform adaptive management of natural resources systems.

The Children and the Law Laboratory uses augmented reality to explore eyewitness identification decisions.

Grands projets

Precision Management of Rangeland Systems for a Sustainable Future, funded by Canadian Foundation for Innovation and provincial matching funds, explores how environmental sensing systems can support the use of rangeland resources while enhancing biodiversity and optimizing carbon sequestration.

Developing an Interactive Framework and Crime Analytics for Public Safety Using the City of Vancouver a project to investigate crime corridors and public safety in the City of Vancouver, developed using 3D visualization and simulations with varied rich data layers extracted from open-source big data, enabling researchers to bring new insights into the etiology of crime patterns and public safety.

  • Dr. Heather Price, Associate Professor, Canada Research Chair, Culture and Communities, Children and the Law. Aims to increase reliability of witness testimony by developing police line-ups using Augmented Reality.

Thompson Rivers University’s Research-Informed Learning programs, offered through the Office of Research and Graduate Studies, and Co-operative and Experiential Learning programs, offered through TRU’s Department of Career and Experiential Learning, assist students in finding research placements, internships, and co-operative learning opportunities with university partners, locally, regionally, and abroad.
