SciNet & SOSCIP U of T serves as the home for both the SciNet HPC Consortium, a major hub in Compute Canada’s HPC network and the country’s largest supercomputing facility, and the Southern Ontario Smart Computing Innovation Platform (SOSCIP).

Critical Making Lab is a shared space for experimentation with embedded and material digital technology, providing tools, materials, and training for building devices such as wearable computers, RFID systems, ubiquitous computing networks, and other physical computing technologies.

Identity, Privacy and Security Institute is dedicated to developing new approaches to digital and information security that maintain the privacy, freedom and safety of the individual and the broader community.

Grands projets

Environmental Data and Governance Initiative

This international network leverages research and online tools to track and respond to the undermining of evidence-based environmental governance in the United States.

Reliability of Solid-State Drives

This research program seeks to develop effective techniques for predicting sector errors (i.e., partial drive failures) and, in turn, improving system reliability.

NSERC Strategic Network for Smart Applications on Virtual Infrastructures (SAVI)

SAVI is a partnership of Canadian industry, academia, research and education networks, and high performance computing centres that are working to design a national distributed application platform testbed for creating and delivering future Internet applications.
