Global Canadian Excellence recognition

Canadians should be proud of the research being conducted at our universities and research institutes. From understanding habitat fragmentation and its effects on species conservation, to discoveries that have changed the understanding of the underlying biology of cancer, from the development of tools that produce the shortest man-made flashes of light, to understanding the origins of planets, researchers in Canada are providing insights and solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges and greatest questions. And in 2022, 25 researchers at Canadian institutions received international recognition for their work, earning prizes as diverse as the Wolf Prize, BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Prize, and a slew of Guggenheim and Sloan Fellowships. This recognition increases Canadians’ understanding of the impact and importance of research and secures our position on the global stage as a research and innovation leader.
