University of Toronto releases Employment Equity Report
The University of Toronto conducted a voluntary survey of all employees in 2016 on gender identity, sexual orientation, ethno-cultural identity and more. With over 70% of staff responding, the survey provides useful data for measuring the state of EDI at the university.
The report compares internal and external workforce representation for women, racialized people, Indigenous people, people with disabilities and LGBTQ+ people. Intersectional analysis is a key part of the report that analyzes representation at all three U of T campuses. A useful breakdown between visible and invisible disabilities shows that 90% of respondents with disabilities have invisible disabilities.
As the survey changed significantly between 2015 and 2016, the 2016 Employment Equity Report will act as a baseline for future comparisons.
