What advice would you offer researchers at the beginning of their careers?

Decide what is important to you. There are very few science jobs, so you have to decide if location is more important than the type of job. Be open to the idea of living somewhere different, or taking a non-academic job, or working in a slightly different field of science in order to get a good position.

What is your definition of success?

If you enjoy what you do, and you are also good at it, that to me is success, regardless of your title or the size of your paycheque.
