Promoting Canada’s top research talent

Launched in 2012 by former Governor General of Canada David Johnston, the Global Excellence Initiative promotes the recognition of Canadian research talent on the international stage by identifying and offering assistance to meritorious candidates for prestigious national and international awards.

Universities Canada has managed the initiative since October 1, 2017.

Global Excellence Initiative review service

Universities Canada coordinates the external review of draft nomination packages from submitting institutions and serves as the liaison between nominating institutions (and their nominees), the granting councils that provide lists of potential reviewers, and the reviewers offering valuable feedback.
