Canadian Cancer Trials Group is a cooperative oncology group that designs and administers clinical trials in cancer therapy, supportive care and prevention across Canada.
WJ Henderson Centre for Patient-Oriented Research is a hub for clinical research, bringing together the facilities, equipment and research projects that require patient involvement into a single space.
Centre for Neuroscience Studies is a hub of multidisciplinary research and teaching aimed at improving our understanding of the brain.
Queen’s CardioPulmonary Unit is a translational research facility focused on the development of new therapies for heart, lung, blood and vascular diseases.
Human Mobility Research Centre conducts research on effective treatment strategies for bone and joint disorders.
Major collaborations
Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research (CIMVR): IBM and CIMVHR support groundbreaking research at CIMVHR, program evaluation, and the dissemination of information to practitioners and policy makers with a goal of improving health and health outcomes for military, veterans and their families.
The Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) has provided $3.7M in funding to form the Ontario Molecular Pathology Research Network (OMPRN), based at Queen’s and led by Dr. David LeBrun.
International Centre for the Advancement of Community Based Rehabilitation secured $20M+ for partnership between Queen’s University, the University of Gondar in Ethiopia, and the MasterCard Foundation.

Dr. Stephen Archer, CRC in Mitochondrial Dynamics and Translational Medicine, studies oxygen sensing, vascular biology, and experimental therapeutics.
Dr. Janet Dancey, Director of the Canadian Cancer Trials Group, and Program Leader, High Impact Clinical Trials, Ontario Institute for Cancer Research.
Dr. Doug Munoz, CRC in Neuroscience, measures and analyzes eye movements to gain insight into brain function and dysfunction.
Dr. Peter Davies, CRC in Protein Engineering, aims to understand how cooperative interaction of protein partners produces novel or enhanced functions for numerous practical applications.
Dr. Gabor Fichtinger, Cancer Care Ontario Research Chair, Medical Imaging, focuses on image-guided needle-placement procedures, primarily for cancer diagnosis, therapy and musculoskeletal conditions.
Dr. John Smol, CRC in Environmental Change, studies long-term changes in aquatic ecosystems in response to human and natural agents.
Special programs and work integrated learning initiatives
- The Faculty of Health Sciences launched competency-based medical education across 29 specialty programs.
- Online Bachelor of Health Sciences is an inter-professional program created by the University’s Faculty of Health Sciences.
- The Professional Master’s Program in Biomedical Informatics trains future data scientists to translate data into knowledge for improved health care.
