I think it’s very important for universities to have that real-world connection to organizations, whether they’re not-for-profits, community groups or industry, in order to bring the knowledge that is developed within the university and the knowledge within those sectors of society face to face.

I think those combinations of both skills, experience and forms of knowledge creation are very, very important in the 21st century.

We see this kind of real-world experience as both a kind of skills and knowledge exchange: A way of really helping our students to leave their university experience and move towards an employment opportunity.

Or, as with many of our students and studio-based learning, they will be independent entrepreneurs.

They will start companies, that they have an understanding of the context around them when they move out of either undergraduate or graduate education into that world.

Sara Diamond, rectrice de l’OCAD University, explique comment les partenariats entre les universités, l’industrie et les collectivités sont favorables pour les étudiants.
